Beginning
We are located in lands full of history; Catalan lands that were frontier between Christians and Muslims during the X and XI centuries, and its posterior evolution until the XVI century. The Castle of Mur -incomparable example of non religious architecture of the XI century - hides, between the stones of its walls, the pass of the time, the past ways of life and the history of those who lived inside (feudal lords) and outside (a town at the service of the lords).
Visiting the fortress, we get closer to the lives of the men and women of the medieval times and their conflicts. They are the people that colonized, worked and defended the lands throughout the times, which built the castles and conformed and populated the villages.
During its long history, the castle has belonged to different lords. There are documents of it since the year 969, and it proudly survives splendidly in front of the mountain range of Montsec until the present times; survival under the best conditions of preservation that was awarded, in the year 1920, when it was declared Historical Artistic Monument of National Interest.
